Santa baby

While Sloane looks a little unsure in our official photo, it's only because she wasn't thrilled with having to interrupt her facetime with the big guy to pose for a picture. The minute we walked into the "cabin" she was shouting, "Santa! Hi Santa! HEY SANTA!" totally interrupting the goodbyes of the family in front of us. When they were finally out of her way she marched right over to him, climbed up on his lap, and started jabbering away.  She told him that she's been a good girl and that she wants a pink hat and a dollhouse.  Hazel sat happily in his lap for about 30 seconds then made the mistake of turning around to see who was holding her. Total terror. Turns out the U-Village Santa has no line on a rainy weekday evening - score!

7 months

7 sweet months, my love. My heart broke this month when we made the switch to formula. I just couldn't keep up and you blew through the freezer full of milk that I stockpiled. I miss it. Thinking about how much I miss our time together makes me cry. Then I pour myself a glass of wine and think about how easy formula is and how much I don't miss pumping and I'm okay with it. The other huge news this month - teeth! Your two bottom teeth are coming in and I can't wait to really see those suckers when you smile. You were a little fussier than normal but not bad - nice work. Two down, eighteen more to go. You aren't crawling yet but you are able to get around with a roll and tummy scoot combo. You are so pleased with yourself. You love to sit up and stand, until you don't like it any more and scream bloody murder. You eat sweet potatoes, carrots, prunes, and pears. You love puffs and mums. You are talking up a storm and we love your babble. You love your mom and dad but no one makes you happier than your sister. She's happy to sing to you, make funny faces at you, or hold you as long as it doesn't last longer than 10 seconds. You love to interact and grab anything or anyone it site. I can't wear hoop earrings anymore and Coop is keeping a wide berth for now. This whole adventure is just going by too fast Hazy. Slow down already so we can properly savor each moment with you.

Our halls are decked

And we are so excited for Santa Claus to come to town!

We got the tree and decorations up two days after Thanksgiving (and got to see Sloane's eyes light up at the first sighting.)  We've done lots of kissing under the mistletoe.  We met our new friend named Dutch who has taken reports of both naughty and niceness back to the North Pole.  We've visited with Santa twice.  We have a 2 1/2 year old who likes to say "Merry Christmas" then scream "AND HAPPY NEW YEAR" to everyone.  She's been wearing her Santa hat for five days straight.  We've made our favorite Christmas cookies, eaten them all, then had to make round two.  We've got holiday spirit up to our eyeballs.  We can't wait to have the big guy in our home on Christmas Eve.

Thanksgiving

Too much turkey, not enough pictures.  A wonderful day packed with our favorite people and delicious dishes.  Gobble, gobble.

6 months

Half a year, Hazy. Time is flying. This month was a big one for you with lots of changes. You started solids and took to them pretty quickly. You found your voice and you are loud. You started to grab everything in sight. We now keep a pretty wide circle open around your bumbo after you knocked over a full bottle of wine. You giggle with your whole body and your tummy shakes like a bowl full of jelly. You roll all over the place and you are speedy. You will sit up for a few seconds before taking a dive. Thanks for getting things figured out in the sleep department, we are all pretty excited you got back on track. You rarely cry, you easily smile, and your drool more than any baby I've ever met. You are the world's coolest and happiest kiddo. We love every single inch of your chubby little body and every strand of spiky hair on your sweet little head.

D.C.

I visited D.C. for the first time and did a whirlwind tour around my work obligations.  Such a cool city that deserves a propper visit soon.
