I was blind, but now I see

I had my long awaited and much anticipated lasik surgery last week. I've waited so long for my eyes to stop changing so I could do this and finally my eye doc gave me the go ahead. I've basically lived in my contacts for close to 20 years but had to toss them out for 2 1/2 weeks of glasses pre-surgery. Ugh - I hate glasses.

Please note that this self portrait was taken after a recent day of wine tasting. I do look silly in glasses, but not this silly.

Everything about the surgery was super fast, super easy and not nearly as scary as I had played it out in my head. I was awake for the whole thing, but the valium was awesome. On my way in, I passed the guy who'd had his done before me and he sheepishly said, "I know this sounds silly, but when they offer you the teddy bear to hold, be sure and take it." Made me laugh and it was very good advice.

I had red eyes for a couple of days.

And still get to wear these super sexy goggles for a few more nights.

But I went from not being able to see the giant E that took up the whole screen projected in the eye doctor's office (it just looked a fuzzy square of light on the far wall) to easily being able to read the second line from the bottom. Yahoo!
