Catching up

Besides our weekend at the beach, a four month birthday, potty training and meeting new friends we’ve been settling into our fall schedule. The biggest development is that I returned to work and have survived my first month back. It was sad, it was hard, it was easy, it was happy. I love my kids and I love being a mom, but I also enjoy some regular time in the adult world where my most commonly used phrases aren’t“no”, “don’t touch that”,“do you need to go potty?” and “Sloane, please don’t make out with your sister.”  I miss them terribly when I'm a work but there's no better feeling then when Sloane spots me as I come into daycare, yells "my mommy's here", and runs as fast as she can into my arms.  Or my first big grin from Hazy as I nuzzle her neck.

I used to get annoyed when people didn’t regularly update blogs that I followed. I’m sorry that you are busy with your new baby, house remodel, job, etc., but don’t you know that I need entertainment while I enjoy my morning coffee? But I understand now that things get busy and priorities change. Two kids take up a lot of your time, especially when one of those kids is 2 and in the middle of potty training. Plus once you get even a little bit behind the thought of catching up becomes a little daunting. The other day John asked me if was ever going to update the blog again. And since the plan is to turn this documentation of our lives into a baby/family book eventually (doing my 2010 and 2011 books was the one item on my maternity leave to do list that I didn’t get to), it’s time for a giant photo dump and then we’ll get back to our more regularly scheduled updates.
