9 months

Nine is fine. Three quarters of a way through our first year and I don't think Sloane could be any more fun.

Our girl loves to dance. If you sing or play music, she smiles and does a great shimmy/butt wiggle. She is a very good (high) chair dancer. She waves. It's a little spastic, but it's a wave. We've been fascinated watching just how quickly her fine motor skills have been honed. She went from clumsily hitting the puffs/cheerios off the table in an attempt to pick them up to a very deliberate thumb/pointer pickup in just a couple of days. She loves her puffs and I think the fact that Coop was getting most of them was the motivation to get more in her own mouth. She went from immediately throwing her sippy cup onto the floor to sometimes holding it herself - another "my baby isn't a baby anymore" moment. When she doesn’t feel like drinking herself she goes into the baby bird pose – chin up mouth open. It’s so cute that I can’t help but hold the cup for her as she gulps it down.

She talks, a lot. Mostly da da and ba ba but there is plenty of gibberish thrown in there. We’re working on mama. Her voice is a little raspy but she throws in some high pitched shrieks often. The girl is a giggler, it's easy to make her laugh. She is ticklish. It looks like we are going to have some curls when the hair grows out a little more. She loves her sister and we’re working on our gentle touches. Coop tolerates her hitting, ear tugging, and eye gouging and loves to lick Sloane in return (gross). Sloane loves tubby time and we are excited to get her into some swim classes soon.

If we would let her, she would prefer to spend the majority of her time inverted. The girl loves being upside down and has started to hurl herself backward when we're holding her. We hold on tight. She loves to stand and bounce. We moved her out of the bucket and into a car seat. It makes her look like such a big girl. This past month brought a nasty cold and a few barfing episodes. I picked her up at daycare last week reeking of vomit that had literally covered her from head to toe. She was still smiling.

Sloane loves to sit and play. She’s thinking about crawling but has found she can roll to get anywhere she wants so that’s her preferred method of travel for now. She likes to give kisses. They are open mouthed and slobbery and if you ask her for a kiss she lunges at you like she’s going to eat your face.

Her favorite toys are her Violet dog, her drum, music cube, and anything she can bang together. But, there’s nothing she covets more than the remote. Visitors should be warned to wear dangling earrings, necklaces, or their hair down at their own risk. She grabs then pulls and she is strong.

I could go on and on…each day is just so fascinating. We are smitten and can’t believe we are on our way to her first birthday. We love you, Sloane.
